VIDEO: Pace Car Accident Interrupts Freehold Race

Five drivers taken to Jersey Shore hospital.

On a day when driving conditions were dangerous at times for drivers on the road, the conditions proved to be equally as hazardous at the Freehold Raceway.

According to a report on nj.com the pace car skidded out of control during one race on Friday and hit several horses and drivers. The report said of the seven horses in the race only one was able to avoid being hit by the car and its large gates.

Freehold Raceway race secretary Karen Fagliarone was quoted in the story as saying that all the horses were “okay,” but she did not have information on the five drivers who were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
