Upper Lows Continue to Plague New Jersey

Another upper low is starting to develop that will impact New Jersey, but once again the location of this upper low will lead to different weather impacts.

Another week, another upper level low.

The summer of upper level lows and unsettled weather conditions will continue this weekend and into next week with another powerful upper level low over eastern Canada controlling the weather pattern.

As discussed in previous posts, the position of the upper level low is key in determining the type of weather pattern that New Jersey will experience.  In the past weeks, upper lows that set up to the west of New Jersey lead to very hot and humid air to build into the Garden State.  At the start of this month, another upper level low set up shop off the New England coast leading to a prolonged stretch of cool, wet, and raw conditions.

This time, a powerful upper low will set up due north of New Jersey which will produce yet another complicated weather pattern for the region.  This time, disturbances will dive towards New Jersey from the eastern Great Lakes, but will weaken rapidly before reaching New Jersey.  As a result, showers with these disturbances will be widely scattered and weak.  However, the air mass associated with this pattern will come from the Ohio River Valley which will lead to temperatures returning to near to slightly above normal ranges in the 80's to lower 90's for highs with increasing levels of humidity.  This pattern will remain in place through at least the middle of next week before the pattern breaks down and another upper low begins to take shape to the west New Jersey.
