4 Free Ways to Celebrate Independance Day in Freehold

A round-up of fun, family-friendly, 4th of July events happening in our community.

Celebrate with a Bang! 7/3

Over 20,000 people will head to the Freehold Raceway for the annual Fourth of July Fireworks show and concert. This age old Freehold tradition was resurrected fifteen years ago by Downtown Freehold. This year the show is being presented by Coors Light. Admission is free. This year the concert features The Rock & Roll Chorus and Turnstyles with songs of Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, John Mellancamp, Steely Dan & more! Gates open at 5:30 p.m.

Historic Happening 7/4

Freehold Borough will celebrate the 4th of July with a reading of the Declaration of Independence. All are welcome to gather at 8:30 a.m. on the steps of Borough Hall and thereading begins at 9:00 a.m.

"This moving ceremony has become a Freehold tradition. You will appreciate the words of the Declaration when read by our citizens," said Mayor Nolan Higgins. "All are welcome to participate in this reading."

Kids Play Free for Freedom 7/4

is celebrating Independence Day with for all kids 15-year-old or younger. Ride bands will be given out only at iPlay America admissions counters on July 4th  from noon until 5:00 p.m. These free bands are not available through the online system.

In addition to rides, there are also a variety of games and food attractions.

will be performing at the Hall of Records on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Downtown Freehold Summer Concert Series. The concert is free to attend.

July 3rd fireworks? Does anyone realize this is not a long weekend when the holiday occurs on Wednesday? Most corporations are still expecting people to work that day.
