The start of summer has made itself known, with temperatures reaching almost 100 degrees and blanket heat advisories across the state.
And summer is apparent at Colts Neck's Sprayground in Dorbrook Park, where families attempted to escape the heat by running through sprinklers and playing in shooting spouts of water coming from the ground.
Sound like a water park? Sprayground basically is. With small wading pools and water spraying everywhere, Sprayground serves as a free way for park visitors to cool off and have some fun.
When Patch drove by on Wednesday afternoon, Sprayground was packed. Families were seeking shade under trees and setting up picnics while happy children ran around the small water park.
Dorbrook Park is located right next door to Freehold on Rt. 537 East, past and Eastmont Orchards from Rt. 34. The park is free, and open to individuals and families. The park is sometimes used for the recreation day camp on the premesis.
The Sprayground is open weekdays from 11 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. and weekends/holidays from 10 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
