Looking for a way to challenge your middle schooler this summer? The Monmouth County Vo-Tech schools have partnered with Brookdale Community College for a program called Camps-On-Campus. This program offers fun and unique learning experiences which take place at the individual academy high school locations. Camp participation will not impact application for admission to
the vocational school district academy high schools.

Biotech Boot Camp

Touch the exciting field of biotechnology. Campers will use state-of-the-art equipment to perform scientific techniques including: DNA gel electrophoresis, DNA fingerprinting, genetic engineering of bacteria to glow in the dark and identification of genetically modified organisms. Explore current issues, including stem cells and cloning. Biotechnology High School – Freehold, 5000 Kozloski Rd. Brown bag lunch required. For laboratory safety: no glass containers, no open sandals.

Grades: 7-8; $289, XCHLC 127 W

NEW! Physics Of Soccer

Use physics principles to improve your soccer skill. Program includes classroom discussion, laboratory based work, and hands-on (and feet-on) practice of soccer skills. Topics include using knowledge of rotational motion and torque in order to improve banana kicks and using the impulse-momentum theorem to maximize the range of kicks and throw-ins. Students must have completed Algebra I. Biotechnology High School – Freehold, 5000 Kozloski Rd. Brown bag lunch required. For laboratory safety: no glass containers, no open sandals.

Building Digital Circuits

Meet the world of electronics by building electronic circuits. Start with the basics of proper soldering technique then move on to building elaborate projects like electronic games of your own invention. Gain an appreciation of electronics by applying theory to actual working circuits. Take home projects built during the program Campers are required to wear long pants, closed front shoes and will be using a soldering iron during this camp. High Technology High – Lincroft, 765 Newman Springs Rd, Brookdale campus. Brown bag lunch optional. Campers may purchase lunch. Long pants, socks, and closed toe shoes (sneakers ok) required for lab safety.

Section 2: 7/30 - 8/3, 9 am-2 pm

CO2 Car Technology

Learn how to use compressed air to propel a model racecar. Using 3D modeling software and mechanical parts, you will design and build your own racecar and compete with your fellow campers. High Technology High – Lincroft, 765 Newman Springs Rd, Brookdale campus. Brown bag lunch optional. Campers may purchase lunch. Long pants, socks, and closed toe shoes (sneakers ok) required for lab safety.
