"Shtetl"

On June 1, 2014, at 2 PM, The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County will present its long-time friends The Zisl Slepovitch Trio in "Shtetl", a concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of Fiddler on the Roof with grass roots music from the shtetl. Admission is $22.00 for members, $25.00 for non-members, and $15.00 for students.

The multi-talented Dmitri Zisl Slepovitch is an ethnomusicologist, educator, clarinetist, saxophonist, composer, conductor and Yiddish singer. He performs and teaches Ashkenazi Jewish music and other Eastern and Central European musical traditions and has performed with many internationally-known musicians. He has co-arranged a score for Itzhak Perlman's 2012 album Eternal Echoes: Songs and Dances for the Soul and has worked as a music consultant and played character roles in the movies Defiance (2009) and The Burning Land (2003). Among his original works he has composed music for the ballet Two Brothers (Folksbeine) and the documentary Funeral Season.
