Busy End to January in Freehold

A look at events happening in Freehold this week.

A project started by the Freehold Township Committee last year to look at a tract of property in the municipality could take another big step forward following Tuesday’s meeting.

At a meeting last November the committee authorized the Freehold Township Planning Board to look into whether a piece of land that borders Route 79, Route 33 and Route 9 should be referred to as “An Area in Need of Redevelopment.”

Since that time the Planning Board has held a special meeting on the matter  and a public hearing was held where there was no opposition to making a development plan. If the resolution is adopted a Redevelopment Plan for the area could be made by the township’s professional planners.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting the committee will recognize the Greater Freehold Area Pop Warner Junior Pee Wee Blue and Midget football teams.

While the Freehold Township Committee is meeting on Tuesday night the township’s board of education will also convene in the board office conference room. Prior to both meetings the Freehold Borough Board of Education is scheduled to meet on Monday night in the Freehold Learning Center Cafeteria.
