Freehold Township Day Caps Off Busy Week

After the most sweltering weekend of the summer the calendar in Freehold stays hot with a wide variety of activities from township meetings to an annual fair to end the week.

The Freehold Township Committee will meet on Tuesday night at 8 p.m. in the Municipal Building. The agenda for the meeting can be found here.  The Alliance to Prevent Substance Abuse will meet at Noon on Wednesday and the Recreation Commission will meet on Wednesday night at 7:30. There will also be a Board of Health meeting at 6:30 on Thursday night and a Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting at 7:30 on Thursday.

Downtown Freehold will also be buzzing this week with a continuation of the celebration of the 4th of July. The Flavor of Freehold tour will be held on Monday and Tuesday followed by Freehold Idol on Wednesday. The competition kicks off at 7:30 at the Hall of Records.

Thursday night The Nerds will follow a successful show at Howell Day with a performance in front of the Hall of Records from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. The fun wraps up on Friday with the Red White & Brew Crawl that includes the American Hotel, the Court Jester, Federici’s and the Metropolitan Cafe.

The downtown area will also be host to the first Farmers Market during the day on Friday. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rotunda and will be held every Friday through the middle of October. Returning vendors from the past include Trapper’s Honey, Nan’s Naturals, Kauffman Farms, Hauser Hill Frims, Rocky Brook Farm and The Farm. There will also be new vendors added throughout the season as well. Two Saturday events will also be added at a later date.

Wrapping up the week Freehold Township Day is scheduled to be held on Saturday starting at 5 p.m. The event, sponsored by the Township and the Veteran’s Community Alliance will include music, food and a fireworks finale. The day will also include a “Don’t Forget the Vet” classic car show as part of the even.
