Local Councils Meeting This Week

A look at events happening around Freehold this week.

The calendar in Freehold this week includes municipal meetings, events for women and many other areas in between.

The Freehold Borough Council is set to meet in their regular meeting tonight at 7:30 at Borough Hall. On the agenda is a redevelopment presentation for the company formerly known as Ballew Jewelers for the location at 5 West Main Street.

Following that meeting the Freehold Township Committee will meet on Tuesday night with the agenda including a presentation by Mayor Barbara McMorrow providing an update on the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign. Other items on the agenda include a resolution authorizing a contract for the replacement and upgrades of the HVAC system for the Freehold Township Municipal Complex.

There are also three discussion items on the agenda with topics ranging from Human Trafficking Prevention to Electronic Graphic Display Signs and the 2013 Best Practices Checklist.

On Thursday night the Freehold branch of the AAUW will meet at the Barkalow School presenting Dick Frenkiel as the guest speaker. As a former Bell Labs employee Frenkiel won the National Medal of Technology from former President Bill Clinton and the National Academy of Engineering’s Draper Prize.

Friday morning there will be a meeting of the Entrepreneurial Think Tank for Moms located at 800 West Main Street. The group’s founders will speak at the event as they bring new members into the group. The meeting starts at 11 a.m.

On Saturday morning the Clifton T. Barkalow PTO will be hosting a clothing drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Items being collected include clothing, shoes, stuffed animals, linens and handbags.
