The forecast for the end of 2013 calls for some cool clear days but we may not have to wait too long for the first snowfall of 2014 to arrive according to the National Weather Service.
Today should be the warmest day of the week with a high near 41 under a mostly clear sky before dropping to a low near 19 at night. The last day of the year will be a chilly one with a high near 38 degrees with winds blowing between 11 and 16 MPH in the morning.
For those brave enough to head into Times Square to see the ball drop jackets will be required with a low near 21 expected on New Years Eve. A partly cloudy night will make way for a partly sunny day on Wednesday with a high of just 31 expected. The low for Wednesday night is expected to be a brisk 25 degrees and mostly cloudy.
Thursday looks to be a wet day for our area with a 50 percent chance of showers. Depending on how the week goes those showers could be rain or snow with a high near 37 expected during the day. The showers could continue into the night with a low near 20 and still a 50 percent chance of precipitation.
