Township Committee Starts 2014 Business With Tuesday Meeting

A look at events happening in Freehold this week.

This week marks the start of a new chapter in Freehold as the Township Committee meets for the first regular meeting of the new year with a new mayor.

After David Salkin was sworn in as mayor at the reorganization meeting and Anthony Ammiano was sworn in as deputy mayor the committee has a full agenda to continue its work for 2014. The Freehold Township Planning Board is also scheduled to hold its reorganization meeting on Thursday night.

This week also marks the return of the weekly Fit Club meetings at the Freehold Borough YMCA. The group meets every week on Mondays from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. and is free of charge.

On Thursday night The Freehold Jewish Center will host the Liberty Oak Chorus in a special event geared for local women. The Chorus is part of Sweet Adelines International which has more than 25,000 members worldwide who sing in a four-part a cappella barbershop style. The members of Liberty Oak come from towns around New Jersey and Staten Island.
