<p>The Freehold Public Library was the second Carnegie library built in New Jersey. The library is independent of the Monmouth County Library system and is free for Freehold Borough residents. Citizens of other Monmouth County municipalities, including Freehold Township, can become a member for a $10 annual fee.</p>
<p>The Freehold Public Library has a garden area in the back.</p>
