Incumbents Re-Elected to Board of Education

All three incumbents running for Freehold Borough BOE were re-elected. The three incumbents for Freehold Township BOE were also re-elected.

Familiar faces will return to both the Freehold Borough Board of Education (BOE) and the Freehold Township BOE. Unofficial results from the Freehold Borough Clerk named incumbents Susan Greitz, Michael L. Lichardi and Maureen MacCutcheon to the three open three-year seats on the Freehold Borough BOE. The one open one-year seat was named to Michele Tennant. Unofficial results show that MacCutcheon brought in 1,295 votes, followed by Greitz with 1,245 and Lichardi with 1,103 votes. The fourth candidate for the open three-year term seats was Michael McKeon who brought in 823 votes. Tennant was named to the open one-year seat on the Borough BOE after bringing in 963 votes. Republicans Win Open Freehold Township Seats

Mayor Anthony Ammiano and Tom Cook win open Committee seats.

A new face will join the all Republican Freehold Township Committee in 2013. Township Mayor Anthony Ammiano was re-elected to the Committee along with newcomer Tom Cook, according to unofficial results from the Freehold Township Clerk. Before the results came in, Cook joined the Monmouth County Republicans at South Gate Manor to watch the results come in. Update: Griffiths Beats Out Incumbent, Democrats Fill Freehold Borough Council

Sharon Shutzer re-elected. Ron Griffiths beats out incumbent John Newman.

This story was updated on Wednesday with comments from Griffiths and Newman. In 2013, the Freehold Borough Council will seat all Democrats. Unofficial results from the Freehold Borough Clerk’s office show that residents re-elected Freehold Borough Council President Sharon Shutzer and brought Ron Griffiths aboard. Griffiths beat out incumbent John Newman, the sole Republican on the Council. "Frankly, I was surprised by the amount of votes we [Democrats] received," said Griffiths. He continued by saying "I am looking forward to bringing new ideas forward and becoming a more efficient governing body." Freehold Residents Line Up to Vote

Despite changes to original locations, Freehold residents show up to their polling locations to vote.

Although power is yet to be restored to all areas of Freehold, residents made their way to their designated polling locations this morning to vote in the 2012 election. Many Freehold Township residents had a change in their original location due to the many power outages in town. Most rerouted residents were told to report to the West Freehold School but, according to voters, this change was not a bad thing. "I just complimented the entire staff in there," said June Holloway, who normally votes at the Social Services building off of Kozloski Road. "My hat goes off to Monmouth County, all of the staff is doing a great job, voting was quick and easy this morning." Voters reported that the average wait time to vote at West Freehold School was…
