Cher Lloyd Concert Scheduled for Freehold High School Students

92.3 NOW FM will be giving Freehold High School a free concert at iPlay America Wednesday.

It may have been a bumpy road for Freehold High School, but their prize of having a free concert with Cher Lloyd will become a reality on Wednesday evening. Back in September, 92.3 NOW FM held their annual "Last School Standing" contest where the school with the most votes would win a concert at their school. This year, a concert with Cher Lloyd, a finalist in the UK’s X-Factor, was up for grabs. After an intense few weeks of voting, Freehold High School was named the winner with 37.5% of the votes, beating out schools from all over the tri-state area. “It was a community effort, not only were [Freehold High School] students voting, but parents and students in other schools were voting for us,” explained Michael Raia, a junior at Freehold …

Freehold Students Petition for Cher Lloyd Concert

Freehold High School students won a 92.3 FM concert but may not be able to hold it on school premises.

UPDATE: This story was updated on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 4:45 p.m. with an additional comment from FRHSD. For weeks Freehold High School students voted and promoted their school on 92.3 NOW FM for a once and a lifetime opportunity to bring Cher Lloyd, a 2010 X-Factor UK finalist, to perform a free concert at their school. After beating out hundreds of schools from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, Freehold High School students were named the winners of the “Last School Standing" contest on Thursday, Sept. 20. The more I think about this the angrier I actually get! I remember not to long ago when a mural many of these kids worked on was destroyed by ignorant adults! Since when is it the policy of Freehold boro to teach our kids that working together as a unit is a waste of time?? They deserve this concert!!!! They worked HARD for it!!!
