Freehold Man Accused of Assaulting Officer

Incident occurred on Tuesday, Nov. 6 in Freehold Borough.

A Freehold man faces three charges after he allegedly assaulted a police officer in Freehold Borough. Joses Melendez, 26, of Lockwood Avenue, has been charged with assault, resisting arrest, and possession of an imitation weapon. According to the complaint warrant, Melendez had a small silver plastic handgun concealed in his waistband on Tuesday, Nov. 6. When the officer was arresting Melendez, he allegedly pulled away from the officer and kicked him in the ankle. Melendez has been remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $27,500 bail for all three charges.

Freehold Man Accused of Assaulting Asbury Park Officer

The alleged incident took place over the weekend in Asbury Park.

A Freehold resident faces assault and preventing arrest charges after he allegedly pushed an Asbury Park Law Enforcement Officer. Arthur Douglass, 25, allegedly pushed Officer Cynthia Yost while she was attempting to arrest him. According to the complaint warrant, Yost fell to the ground and injured her left hand after Douglass pushed her. The alleged incident took place on Saturday, Oct. 20. The complaint warrant did not state what Douglass was being arrested for.   Douglass has been remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI) on $15,000 bail.

Woman Accused of Assault and Shoplifting at Freehold Raceway Mall

An Eatontown resident allegedly had over $400 of stolen merchandise in her possession at the time of her arrest.

An Eatontown woman faces assault and shoplifting charges after she allegedly assaulted a loss prevention officer at the Freehold Raceway Mall. A Sears loss prevention officer stopped Alexandria I. Ortiz, 19, of Meadowbrook Ave, on Thursday when they allegedly observed her attempting to steal merchandise. According to the complaint warrant, Ortiz punched and kicked the officer when he apprehended her and threatened him by saying “Don’t you worry, you’re going to get yours”. The complaint warrant continues to explain that Ortiz had in her possession over $200.50 worth of stolen merchandise from Abercrombie & Fitch, Charlotte Russe, and Hollister at the time of her arrest. The merchandise she attempted to steal from Sears was valued at $223.…

Man Allegedly Assaults Officer with Soda Can

According to the complaint warrant, the man hit an officer in the leg with a full can of soda.

Freehold Borough Police arrested a vagrant man in Freehold after he allegedly threw a full can of soda at a police officer. Stephen Bumgardner, 53, of Freehold, was arrested on Friday, Aug. 17. According to the complaint warrant, Bumgardener threw a full can of soda at a uniformed Freehold Borough Police Officer while he was conducting a lawful investigation at the liquor store on West Main Street. The can of soda allegedly hit the officer in the leg. Bumgardner faces one charge of assault. He has been remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $2,500.

VIDEO: Pair Charged In Assaults On Homeless Man Posted On Internet

Two recorded beatings and posted on YouTube, police say

A Belmar man and a Lake Como teen were arrested and charged Sunday with two separate attacks on a homeless man that the pair recorded on video and posted on the internet, police said. Taylor Giresi, 20, of 15th Ave. in Belmar was charged with aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit assault in two separate beatings of a Wall man who is frequently homeless, Sgt. Frank Lancellotti said. Giresi was also charged with second-degree robbery and fourth degree theft later Monday, according to Lt. Walter Pomphrey. The beatings were recorded by the juvenile and posted to YouTube, Lancellotti said. Wall Detective Heath Bono, along with the assistance of the Belmar Police Department, was able to identify the two. A crime is a crime, wherever is occurs. It is a crime that jailers are not held fully accountable for the beatings, rapes etc. that seem to be a fact of life for inmates, male and female. Whatever the judge sentences the convicted person to does not include being beaten, raped, extorted. The jailers that allow this are criminals.
