Chickenpox Lockdown Lifted At Jail
Lockdown was lifted at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
The Monmouth County Correctional Institution is no longer on lockdown, said Cynthia Scott, public information officer for the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office. The lockdown was originally issued on Sunday, Aug. 12, when two inmates were diagnosed with chickenpox. During the lockdown, inmate transports to the Monmouth County Courthouse were canceled, and video conferencing was made available for inmates who had been scheduled to appear in court. According to Scott, the lockdown was lifted at 8 a.m. Wednesday after no additional cases of the chickenpox surfaced. Normal operations have resumed at the jail.
