Freehold Schools Learn State Aid Numbers for Fiscal 2014

Freehold Borough and Freehold Township have received their state aid numbers.

Days before Freehold school districts adopt their tentative school budgets, state aid figures have been released.  According to a NJ Spotlight article, the state Department of Education posted online Thursday the breakdown of $8.7 billion in proposed state school aid for fiscal 2014. In Freehold Borough, the district learned that it would see a slight increase in state aid, while in Freehold Township the aid will remain the same. For the 2012-2013 school year the Freehold Borough School District received a total of $9,176,188 in state aid. The Freehold Borough School District will see an increase in aid for the 2013-2014 school year by receiving a total of $9,611,330 in state aid. Freehold Intermediate Identified as Focus School by DOE

The school has been identified as needing targeted support by the new statewide accountability system.

The Christie Administration named Freehold Intermediate School a Focus School last week, as part of its new statewide accountability system. This system has been developed from the No Child Left Behind Act. “This is all part of the NCLB waiver and new accountability system that is going to be implemented in NJ.  Schools will now fall into Priority, Focus, or Reward schools OR be uncategorized,” explained Freehold Borough Schools Superintendent Liz O’Connell. The rest of the school district falls in the uncategorized category.
