Freehold Township Committee Recognizes Varsity Field Hockey Team

After earning numerous titles during their 2012 season, the Freehold Township High School Varsity field hockey team was awarded certificates of achievement from the Freehold Township Committee.

2012 was a banner-year for the Freehold Township High School (FTHS) Varsity field hockey team. During their season, the girls won a North Division Title, won the Central New Jersey Group IV State Championship, went undefeated in the season, had 15 shutouts and were ranked number 10 in New Jersey and the Shore Conference.  Due to their success, the Freehold Township Committee honored the team last week with a certificate of achievement for the multiple athletic highlights the team experienced this year. In addition to the many accomplishments the team earned during the season, the committee recognized the team’s passion and dedication to each other and the sport.

Athlete of the Week: Off the Field with Sydney Duven

The senior field hockey player received a scholarship to play Division I Field Hockey at Sacred Heart University.

A Freehold High School (FHS) senior will continue to represent the Colonials next year on the field hockey field.  Sydney Duven was one of the eight FHS students to receive an athletic scholarship to play at Division I University. Jerrilynn Acevedo, former FHS field hockey coach, worked with Duven for three years before becoming the Supervisor of Extracurricular Activities. At the annual FHS signing ceremony breakfast, Acevedo spoke about her memories with Duven. “The amount of titles that we have and the amounts wins do not compare to the memories we have,” said Acevedo. “We have cried a lot, we have laughed a lot and we have had a lot of fun throughout the last three years all of which I will never forget and its been truly an honor to …

Freehold Students Accomplishments Acknowledged by FRHSD

Freehold Regional High School District acknowledged sports accomplishments made by students with Fall Sports Medals.

The Freehold Regional High School District (FRHSD) Board of Education (BOE) recognized Freehold and Freehold Township athletes Monday night for their outstanding athletic achievements.   From Freehold High School, the girls Gymnastics Team was acknowledged for their Shore Conference Tournament and Sectional titles. For Freehold Township High School, the Field Hockey Team was recognized for being named Central Jersey Group IV State Champions. Also, recognized from Freehold Township High School was a member of the Boys’ Cross Country Team for his Central Jersey Group IV State Champion title. Freehold Township Field Hockey Recognized at Comittee Meeting

The athletes received certificates of achievement for their hard work associated with winning a state championship.

The Freehold Township Committee honored the Freehold Township High School Girls’ Varsity Field Hockey team at their regular meeting on Feb. 28. The team had an outstanding 2011 season earning the Central Jersey Group IV State Championship and ranking #5 in the Asbury Park Press Shore Conference Top 10. The athletes were presented with a certificate of achievement at the meeting.
