Passing teen accidentally started fire; no charges will be filed, police say
A brush fire that torched a portion of a township park Tuesday was accidentally started by a passing teen, police said Wednesday. East Freehold Fire Company and New Jersey Forest Fire Service were called to Durand Park in around 5:47 p.m. for a report of a brush fire, Freehold Townsip Police Sgt. Jerry Kiwit said. The blaze burned about a half acre of the park before firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze, Kiwit said. Freehold Borough police officers noticed smoke coming from a home in Piscataway and ran to assist those inside.

The two had no idea there was even a fire upstairs.” After getting the two residents out, the officers continued through the home until they reached a separate apartment …

"Late Wednesday, heavy, wet snow and high winds from the nor'easter resulted in approximately 120,000 additional power outages in the Jersey Central Power & Light service territory," says the JCP&L website. The company serves 13 counties in New Jersey, including Monmouth and Ocean. There …
