Freehold First Aid Squad Remembers John 'Jack' Schellenger Jr.

Schellenger was a past captain and life member. He died on Feb. 3.

A longtime Freehold First Aid member lost his battle with brain cancer this weekend. According to a post on the Monmouth County Police, Fire & EMS Facebook page, John 'Jack' Shellenger Jr. lost his battle with brain cancer on Sunday, Feb. 3 at 8:30 p.m. His wife was at his side. For over 25 years, Schellenger was a dedicated member of the Freehold First Aid Squad and was a past captain and life member. Earlier this year, the Freehold First Aid came together to help Schellenger and his family with a spaghetti dinner. In addition to Schellenger’s time on the Freehold First Aid Squad, he had coached basketball at Freehold High School, Manasquan High School, and Marlboro High School.
