A St. Patrick's Day Tradition Continues in Freehold
The Freehold Borough Arts Council and the local Ancient Order of Hibernians have teamed up to hold the second annual Freehold St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
A St. Patrick’s Day tradition continues in Freehold this year thanks to two local organizations. The Freehold Borough Arts Council (FBAC) and the local Ancient Order of Hibernians have teamed up to continue the Freehold St. Patrick’s Day parade following the success of last year’s first parade. “We decided to have the 2012 parade two weeks before St. Patrick’s Day,” explained FBAC member John Newman. “We thought there would only be 20 people marching down an empty street but it wasn’t. Actually, hundreds of people showed up. We were so surprised by the success.” While last year’s parade was a hit, this year’s parade hopes to be even better with some new features. “Last year we were so low budget we handed out lucky charms to spectators,” …

Freehold Borough Arts Council Launches Online Contest
The Freehold Borough Arts Council has launched an “Out and About Borough Art” contest for their Facebook fans.
The Freehold Borough Arts Council (FBAC) has launched an online contest to continue their mission of inspiring, providing and championing the arts to build a greater cultural community. Through Facebook, the FBAC has put together “Out and About Borough Art”, a fun and educational online contest. Envisioned by FBAC Board member Brian Sullivan and creatively named by FBAC Board member Samantha Daesener, the contest is an idea that highlights the art that surrounds borough residents. The FBAC has manipulated approximately 10 photos of borough artwork to make them less recognizable, and will place these images on their Facebook page, one-a-week. VIDEO: YMCA Arts Club Helps FBAC With Complete Streets Initiative
The Freehold Borough Arts Council teamed up with the YMCA Arts Club for a creative bike trail sign.
Members of the Freehold Borough Arts Council (FBAC) came to the Freehold Borough YMCA on Tuesday, to begin brainstorming and designing bike signs for the borough. In March, the Freehold Borough Council adopted a “Complete Streets” policy, which requires the borough to make necessary accommodations for pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit users. While the borough will received funding from the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) to implement these accommodations, the FBAC came onboard to bring the arts and community into the project. Shop for Harvest Supplies in Downtown Freehold
The Freehold Borough Arts Council will be selling harvest décor Oct. 6, 7, 13 and 14.
Shop local, support the arts, and get your home into the Fall spirit with the Freehold Borough Arts Council (FBAC) Harvest Arts Fundraiser. Taking place in front of Mellon Farms on South Street, the FBAC will be selling all sizes of pumpkins, Indian corn, hay bales, corn stalks, mums and more from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Oct. 6, 7, 13 and 14. The FBAC will also have a free paint station set up on sale days for attendees that are interested in painting their pumpkins on the premise. First Ever Freehold’s Got Talent Rocks Main Street

Main Street came alive Tuesday night as the Freehold Borough Arts Council (FBAC) joined forces with Downtown Freehold to bring the first ever Freehold’s Got Talent competition to the Borough. Modeled after the popular NBC television show America’s Got Talent, this hometown version showcased some of Freehold’s most gifted performers in a one night competition. Despite popular summer traditions, like Freehold Idol, already happening in town, FBAC President Neal Girandola approached Downtown Freehold with the idea of an event that would allow all different talents of Freehold to be seen. “Downtown Freehold does such amazing events that encourage the arts,” said Girandola. “Freehold Idol is great for singers so we wanted to do something …

The Freehold Borough Arts Council will present the first “Pop Up Blues & Jazz Club” on May 17th.
Feeling the blues cause there are no Jazz clubs in Freehold? The Freehold Borough Arts Council (FBAC) will cheer you up! The FBAC will present the first “Pop Up Blues & Jazz Club” on May 17th at Park 33 starting at 7:30 p.m. "There is a large fan base for blues and jazz here in the borough and we are looking forward to supporting the musicians of that genre through our Pop-Up events," said Neal Girandola, FBAC President. The debut series will kick off with a hard driving harmonica blues band, Jonny B & The Blues Blazers. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. March in the Freehold St. Paddy's Parade
The parade will start at Freehold Borough Hall on Saturday, March 17, at 11:00 a.m.
Throw on your Kelly green clothes, grab your leprechaun paraphernalia and bring your Irish spirit to Freehold Borough Hall to be a part of the St. Patrick’s Day parade. “It may be one of the shortest parades ever, but it is going to be a lot of fun,” said Councilman John Newman at a meeting this month. The parade will begin sharply at 11:00 a.m. on the morning of March 17. The parade route will start at borough hall and march down West Main Street.
