The Freehold Borough Education Foundation presented grants to 17 Freehold Borough teachers and to the BOE.
Representatives from the Freehold Borough Education Foundation made an appearance at the Monday night Freehold Borough Board of Education (BOE) meeting to recognize teachers who were awarded grants. This year, the foundation awarded a total of $7,325 to 17 borough teachers. With that money, ten new educational programs will be implemented into the classroom and used to better educate students. Each teacher and program was recognized at Monday’s meeting by the foundation. The check for $7,325 was presented to Freehold Borough Superintendent Elizabeth O’Connell who will provide each grant recipient with the funds to bring in the new programs. The Freehold Borough Education Foundation will fund ten grants for new classroom programs.
Ten new educational programs will be implemented into Freehold Borough schools, thanks to the Freehold Borough Education Foundation. At the Jan.28 Freehold Borough Board of Education (BOE) meeting, 17 teachers will be recognized for their new learning plans. The programs range in topics from life skills, reading, and music. The foundation’s website states, “Foundation funds are not intended as a substitute or replacement for the regular school budgets. Rather, the grants awarded by the Foundation have stimulated the development of new innovative programs that would not otherwise have been possible. On Sunday, May 6th, I will be running in the New Jersey Marathon starting in Long Branch, New Jersey. This will be my first full marathon, yes 26.2 miles. I have spent the past several months physically and mentally preparing and training for this race. Along with accomplishing my personal goal of running and completing a full marathon, my run will help raise funds for the Freehold Borough Educational Foundation. The Foundation was established in 1999 by a group of private citizens who saw the need for community support of our public schools. Members and supporters of the Freehold Borough Education Foundation ran or volunteered.
The Freehold Borough Education Foundation participated in the New Jersey Marathon on Sunday, May 1 in Long Branch. Runners needed to raise $250 in pledges for the foundation to compete as a team member in the marathon and half-marathon races. FBEF members and supporters also volunteered their time staffing Relay Transition Points. Freehold was well-represented at the event, with the following residents participating in the marathon, according to New Jersey Marathon race results: Alexandra Caro, Eric Caro, Margaret A.
