Services for Ralph P. Johnson will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at the Thompson Memorial Home in Red Bank.

Ralph P. Johnson, 78, died at home surrounded by family on Feb. 24. Johnson was born in College Point, NY, and resided in Freehold before retiring to Smithville, NJ. He most recently resided Middletown. Johnson retired as an engineer after working at 3M for 30 years. Johnson was a co-founder and coach of the Freehold Soccer League and served during the Korean War with the US Navy from 1952 to 1955. Johnson was predeceased by his loving wife Jessie Smith Johnson in 2001. He is survived by his three beloved children, son Neil and wife Cherie of Oro Valley, AZ; two daughters, Heather and husband Brian Clark of Colts Neck and Kerri and husband Chris Michels of Ada, MI; and by his beloved brother Roger of Centennial, CO. The Freehold Soccer League will begin its season this Saturday with an opening ceremony.
For Freehold Soccer League (FSL) players, the most wonderful time of the year is almost here. This Saturday will mark the beginning of the 2012 FSL season. Complete with a parade and activities at Jackson Mills Fields, the kick off celebration means the official start of the season, allowing Freehold players to show off their skills against neighboring teams. At a practice Wednesday night, the FSL U8 Boys team, the Scorpions, explained what they were looking forward to most this season. In almost unison, the Scorpions said that winning games and scoring goals was what they were looking forward to most this year.
