Heat and Weather Advisory in Effect Today

According to the National Weather Service, a heat and weather advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. tonight.

A heat advisory and hazardous weather advisory has been issued for Freehold. According to the National Weather Service, from noon until 8 p.m. tonight, there is a strong possibility of severe thunderstorms including heavy rainfall, possible flooding, and small hail. Temperatures are expected to remain near 96 today with a heat index value measured near 103. The hazardous weather advisory explains that storms that happen today could possibly affect Friday. Despite the storms, the heat index for Friday is currently expected to range between 95 and 100 degrees.

Heat Advisory and Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued

Extreme heat is expected this afternoon and strong storms are predicted to roll in tonight.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for central New Jersey due to the extreme hot temperatures and high humidity which create an unsafe environment. The heat advisory will remain in effect until 8 p.m. tonight. The heat indexes for our area will reach between 99 and 104 degrees this afternoon, according to the NWS. The impacts of the immense heat and humidity affect everyone, especially the elderly, children, and people who are sick. Some precautionary measures the National Weather Service recommends are: In addition to the extreme heat, a Hazardous Weather outlook has also been issued for this afternoon and tonight. Heat Wave Coming Our Way

Temperatures are expected to be in the 90's until Thursday.

While the weekend ended with cooler temperatures and a powerful storm, the week ahead looks to be a hot one for Freehold. Monday started out in the low 80's but according to the National Weather Service temperatures are expected to hit 93 in Freehold with humidity at 74%. For the rest of the week, temperatures are expected to remain in the 90's. Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 96, with Wednesday expected to reach 95 with a chance of thunderstorms and showers in the afternoon.  A heat advisory is currently in effect for Tuesday and Wednesday on the National Weather Service website.
