UPDATE: Explosives-Detecting K-9 Units Sent to Monmouth County Courthouse

This article was updated at 3:53 p.m. with information from the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office. The Monmouth County Courthouse was evacuated early Thursday afternoon. According to Monmouth County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Cynthia Scott a 9-1-1 bomb threat came into the courthouse around 12 p.m. Thursday afternoon. At 12:30 p.m. the courthouse was evacuated and area K-9 explosives-detecting dogs were brought in to sweep the building. "It takes several hours for the building to be swept," explained Scott. "By the time the sweep would be completed, it would be late in the afternoon so Judge Lawrence Lawson decided to close the building down and send employees home for the day."
