Michael Guadagno, Husband of Lt. Gov., Elevated to Appellate Judge

Guadagno had been a Superior Court judge

Superior Court Judge Michael Guadagno, the husband of Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, has been elevated to the Appellate Division effective Aug. 1, state Supreme Court Chief Justice Stuart Rabner announced late Tuesday. Guadagno, a Monmouth Beach resident, was appointed to the bench in 2005 by Gov. Richard Codey. He served as a family court judge in Monmouth County until 2008 when he was transferred to the family court in Ocean County. In 2010, he returned to Monmouth County as presiding judge of the family court. He served a temporary assignment to the Appellate Division earlier this year. State and Marlboro Strike Deal for Marlboro Psych Property

The state will clean up the property based on environmental regulations, and give the 411 acre piece of land back to Marlboro in 2014.

The Marlboro State Psychiatric Hospital has been a contentious issue in the township since before its doors closed in 1998. Today, Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno and Mayor Jon Hornik announced the official plans for the future of the property as preserved open space. On behalf of the Governor's office, Guadagno officially announced it will clean up the property, knock down and clean up 600,000 square feet of buildings, all without costing Marlboro taxpayers money. The Township will purchase the property in 2014, through open space funds, to preserve the large piece of land. Guadagno said, "We will be sure that [the property] is opened on time and under budget," adding that preserving open space is a quality of life issue for New Jersey residents. …

I'd like to add, however, that in the 67 years the hospital was open, I'm sure not all staff and doctors treated the patients well. My father was, at times, incensed by some of the mistreatment and neglect there. But during the 70s and 80s, I think there was a shift in attitude and a broadened awareness for patients' rights. Casagrande's Baby Shower Benefits Birthright

Gifts go to new mothers in need.

A baby shower to benefit Birthright of Monmouth County was held for Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande on Monday at Courtyard on Main in Freehold. Casagrande, who is expecting her second child, said a friend suggested the idea of a shower to benefit pregnant women and new mothers. “She came to me and said there is a need in the community for supplies for women and children,” Casagrande said. She chose Birthright as the beneficiary for the event. “Birthright is the perfect fit. They are a non-political, non-judgmental organization." Birthright is an all-volunteer organization that offers assistance to mothers in need during pregnancy and the first year of their babies’ lives. It provides counseling, referrals for  health care and housing, …

At the Annual Reorganization meeting of Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders on Jan. 6, Republican Shaun Golden was sworn in as the 76th Sheriff by Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno. Golden had been appointed the temporary replacement for Guadgno who held the position of Sheriff prior to her election as Lieutenant Governor, a post she was elected to this past November.  “Thank you all so much. What can anyone say___Monmouth County___Republican majority as usual and the highest real estate taxes in the entire state. Nothing changes.
