On Saturday night, April 6, 2013 the Knights of Columbus we will be serving their famous German Night Dinner at their Council Home from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

The Knights of Columbus is calling all basketball free throw shooters to come out to represent Freehold at their annual contest. On Saturday, Jan. 26 all Freehold boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 14 are asked to show off their basketball free throwing skills in the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship. The annual contest serves as a fun activity for the community to get together and be active. The contest will run from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. and will be held in the St. Rose of Lima gym. All contestants will be recognized for their participation; however, the winners in each age group will advance to Knights of Columbus District Contest that involves several councils from surrounding towns. Freehold Borough has been chosen, for the second year in a row, to be apart of a nationwide event that honors fallen veterans. Wreaths Across America is coming back to the borough this Saturday, Dec. 15 to lay wreaths on the graves in Elks Point. Freehold Borough will be one of the 800 towns across the country that honor their veterans by placing wreaths on the graves of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. According to Freehold Borough Councilman George Schnurr, wreath laying during the holidays started at Arlington National Cemetery in 1992 by a Maine businessman, Morrill Worcester whose family owned Worcester Wreath Company. Say hello to the 2012 Columbus Day baby. Matthew Lucas Ferreira was born on Oct. 12 at 4:45 a.m., the first baby born at CentraState Medical Center on the traditional Columbus Day. Parents, Erik and Maria Ferreira, of Englishtown, accepted a gift for their son from the Grand Knight of the Freehold Knights of Columbus #1672, Nicholas Fugaro, and Michael Dzergoski. Matthew weighed seven pounds, 11.2 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Ray's Raiders, a Multiple Sclerosis team participating in the April 15 Walk MS, is making fundraising fun by holding a benefit on Friday, March 30 from 8:45 p.m. until midnight. The benefit will be held at the Freehold Knights of Columbus, and will feature music performed by the Space Krickets. Ray’s Raiders is made up of a 90 person team led under Team Captains Susan Kershaw and Arlene Amtzis. The team is made up of residents and family members from Kershaw Commons, a luxury-style accessible apartment complex for people with Multiple Sclerosis in Freehold.
