Pair caught with concealed merchandise and one in possession of heroin, police say
Two Howell women were arrested and charged with shoplifting from a Freehold Township department store -- one with additional drug charges, according to arrest warrants. Amelia Bates, 25, of Eagle Ct., was arrested and charged with shoplifting on Tuesday after she was caught leaving the Lord & Taylor store with $896 in clothing she did not pay for, the warrant says. Carol A. Carney, 24, of Windeler Road, also was charged with shoplifting when she was caught concealing $346 in clothing from the same store, warrants say. North Jersey residents face additional charges stemming from a Feb. 18 arrest.
Four people arrested last week now face additional charges of receiving stolen property from two Freehold Raceway Mall stores. Ruali Alvarez-Diaz, 45, of Garfield, Rauli Alvarez-Yanes, 20, of Elizabeth, Felix Llaneras, 49, of Union City, and Lisary Garcia, 22, of Elizabeth, each face two charges of receiving stolen property from Lord & Taylor and Sur La Table. According to each person’s complaint warrant, they all allegedly received $1,114.94 worth of leather handbags from Lord & Taylor and $317.80 worth of housewares from Sur La Table. Previously, Diaz faced charges of credit card theft and possession of a fraudulent driver’s license. Yanes was charged with possession of stolen property from Macy’s valued at $517.50. Man allegedly used a fraudulent driver’s license and stolen credit cards to buy $1,114.97 worth of merchandise from Lord & Taylor.
Freehold Township Police arrested a Garfield man after he allegedly used stolen credit cards to purchase over $1,000 worth of merchandise from a Freehold Raceway Mall store. Ruali Alvarez-Diaz, 45, of Palisade Avenue, faces a charge of identity theft, credit card theft and possession of a fraudulent driver’s license. According to the complaint warrant, Diaz knowingly possessed a fraudulent New York driver’s license with a name identified as A. R. In addition to allegedly possessing the fraudulent driver’s license, Diaz is also accused of identity theft for representing himself as A. R. The man faces one criminal charge after he allegedly attempted to steal a watch from Lord & Taylor.
Freehold Township Police arrested a Morganville man after he allegedly attempted to conceal a watch from a Freehold Raceway Mall department store. Jesse A. Jecas, 21, of Sussex Road, was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 13. According to his complaint warrant, Jecas attempted to leave Lord & Taylor while concealing a watch inside his shirt. The watch was valued at $250. Jecas’ complaint warrant notes that a Lord & Taylor employee stopped him from leaving the store. Jecas has been remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI) on $1,000 bail.

A Newark woman allegedly attempted to shoplift two Michael Kors handbags from Lord & Taylor.
Freehold Township Police charged a Newark woman with shoplifting after she allegedly attempted to steal designer handbags from a Freehold Raceway Mall department store. Coulette K. Stokes, 46, of Holiday Court is accused of trying to take two Michael Kors handbags from Lord & Taylor on Wednesday, Jan. 23. According to Stoke’s complaint warrant, she concealed the bags under her dress. Together, the bags totaled $676. Stokes has been remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI) on $5,000 bail.

They allegedly had over $1,000 worth of stolen merchandise in their possession.
Freehold Township Police arrested a couple of shoplifters trying to get away with over $1,000 worth of merchandise. Tai France, 29, and Tyrone McLeod, 31, both of Brooklyn, were arrested at the Freehold Raceway Mall on June 25. They allegedly tried to hide $428.50 worth of clothing and walk out of the Lord and Taylor in the Freehold Raceway Mall when they were caught. They also allegedly had $72.85 worth of stolen clothing from H&M, $244.75 from American Eagle and $450 from Abercrombie & Fitch. France and McLeod are charged with shoplifting and receiving stolen property. Both had a prior criminal history at the time of their arrest.
