Arnone Takes Helm as Monmouth Freeholder Director

Shared services and economic growth will be focal points for newly appointed Freeholder Director Thomas Arnone in 2013 as the region recovers from superstorm Sandy. Arnone, who has long advocated for increased cooperation between municipal and county government, pledged to continue that effort during the annual Monmouth County reorganization meeting at Biotechnology High School in Freehold Township on Thursday. “When I stood here two years ago, that was my goal, that was my vision—that we were going to engage back with the municipalities. French, Steinhorn Seek Monmouth County Clerk Seat

Democrat Michael Steinhorn is challenging incumbent Republican M. Claire French.

Monmouth County voters will have two familiar names to choose from for the 2012 clerk’s race. Democrat Michael Steinhorn, a Rumson resident who lost a bid for surrogate in last year’s election, is challenging incumbent Monmouth County Clerk M. Claire French on the November ballot. French, a Republican from Wall, is seeking her fourth full term. French and Steinhorn attended a League of Women Voters candidates’ forum at Monmouth County Library Headquarters in Manalapan on Wednesday to make their case for why they should be elected county clerk. The constitutional office has a five-year term. The Monmouth County Clerk’s Office is responsible for maintaining property records and historical archives, issuing passports and recording election …

No Challenges for County Office Candidates in June Primary

Republicans and Democrats fielded candidates for county clerk and two freeholder seats.

Candidates vying for county offices will not face challenges in the June primary election. The Monmouth County Republican Committee and the Monmouth County Democrats each fielded a single candidate for a three-year, full-term freeholder seat; a one-year unexpired freeholder seat; and a five-year, full-term county clerk seat as of the April 2 primary election filing deadline, according to the Monmouth County Board of Elections. Monmouth County voters will recognize some familiar names on this year’s ballot.
