It's a shame to see the people that "think" they are raising their kids right to be making all these hateful comments. Maybe your kids turned out the way they did because they have you to look up to. Stop making judgments that you have no idea about. Shawn Hannon was an amazing person, teacher, and coach. He was the positive that manalapan needed among all those nasty teachers. Breakdown of Judge's Ruling Ordering Removal of Manalapan HS Principal

A closer look at how Judge Donald Stein ruled in his initial decision ordering Jeff Simon removed from his post.

Three tenure charges were filed against Manalapan High School Principal Jeff Simon by the Freehold Regional High School District in late February 2012 and the case finally came to a close on January 4, 2013. Administrative Law Judge Donald Stein listened to testimony from 22 witnesses and released an initial decision on Jan. 22 ordering Simon be removed from his position at the high school.  Stein found that Simon was in violation of his tenure for “unbecoming conduct” and “a willful failure to read and follow the applicable polices and procedures.” However, Stein did not find Simon to be unfit to serve in a position of educational leadership, as was asserted by the district. Stein said that Simon had outstanding evaluations and did not …

Sampson: Manalapan Early Dismissal Went By the Books

The Freehold Regional High School District said the school was cleared of paint fumes, but dismissed on May 2 as a precaution.

A precutionary early dismissal on May 2 at Manalapan High School was done by the books, according to Superintendent Charles Sampson. At approximately 11:35 a.m., students and faculty complained of a strong odor near the gymnasium in the high school. The cause of the odor was determined to be paint fumes coming from the boiler room. "It was unacceptable," Sampson said. Sampson expanded by saying the paint was approved for use in school, but not doing school hours. County health officials cleared the building and advised that evacuation was unnecessary, however school officials decided to dismiss students at 2 p.m., after arrangements were made for busing. During the situation, students were kept away from the area of school where odor was …

Actually, my main concerns were that children not brought outside immediately, not asked if there were feeling any symptons prior to being sent home, and especially yo be given information that all was well! Time line is subject to interpetation, i believe incident started to unfold at 10:30 and i called at 12. I have read the MSDS sheet and it clearly states fresh air, and flash point is 104. …   more ›

Simon and Attorney Defend Against Tenure Charges at BOE Meeting

Suspended principal of Manalapan High School, Jeff Simon, and his lawyer took the opportunity to plead their case against the certified filed tenure charges at the last Board of Education meeting.

Suspended Manalapan High School Principal Jeff Simon and his attorney, Stuart Moskovitz, used the public participation portion of Monday's school board meeting to continued his attack on the tenure charges filed against him. Simon said he would use the public portion of the Freehold Regional High School District Board meetings to have his voice heard about the “witch-hunt” against him, because “not a single one of any of the twelve counts is valid, truthful, substantiated with evidence, warranted, legitimate, or reason for tenure charges to be brought against me." After the previous Board meeting, Simon’s 38-page statement of position and evidence, as well as the tenure charges and affidavits were provided to citizens who filed OPRA …

How come, in all of these articles about the tenure charges, we never read one comment where anyone has anything bad to say about Mr. Simon? Yes, some don't like the waste of money on the whole thing, but not one comment I have read says he did a bad job. All I read are overwhelmingly positive! These charges ares stupid and obviously politically motivated. The guy has had the job for years and, …   more ›

High School Surprises Samaritan Center Food Pantry with Large Donation

Donations from students accumulated over the summer and during the first few days of school were brought to the center on Tuesday.

Manalapan High School Principal Jeff Simon attends every Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education meeting in order to stay informed about what is going on within the district. One meeting last May particularly piqued Simon’s interest, when Manalapan resident Leon Sirulnick rose to speak about the struggles of the local food pantry, the Samaritan Center. The Samaritan Center offers food weekly to residents in Manalapan, Englishtown, Marlboro, and Millstone Township who need assistance. Over the past several years, the clientele of the food pantry has risen greatly, according to volunteer and Board of Directors member Rita Liberati. The facility now serves approximately 200 families. When Simon heard about the hardships of …
