State Authorities Monitoring TS Sandy

Could bring strong storms next week

The New Jersey Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and the National Weather Service are closely monitoring Tropical Storm Sandy to see what impact it might have on the area as it moves up the coast.  On its Facebook page the OEM reports, "There is a potential for a very powerful and dangerous autumn store to affect our region early next week." The statement continues, "There is a growing threat of strong winds, very heavy rainfall, coastal flooding and inland flooding to affect our region early next week." The National Weather Service says the impact the storm has on the area depends on how the storm tracks over the next five days or so. While it is currently listed as a Tropical Storm as of Tuesday the National Weather Service expects it…

Are You Ready For a Sizzling Hot Weekend?

Temperatures only getting hotter for next few days

Following a week of blisteringly hot days and only slightly cooler nights, the weekend looks to provide more of the same for the area for the next few days. The National Weather Service is predicting a high temperature for today of 95 degrees with even higher levels to be reached over the weekend. The low temperature will only be around 73 degrees tonight before spiking back up to near 99 degrees on Saturday. With the heat index it will likely feel closer to 103 on Saturday and even a chance of thunderstorms on Saturday night will not provide much relief for the area. Even after the rain passes, the high on Sunday figures to be around 90 before finally dipping down to close to 68 Sunday night.  It does not look like next week will be a …

Winter Weather Advisory for Monmouth County

The National Weather Service is calling for snow in our area.

Monmouth County residents could see wintry weather over the next 48 hours, and for the first time since October 2011 it could cover the ground. The National Weather Service in Mount Holly issued a Winter weather warning for the area, beginning with rain and sleet tonight and very early Saturday morning and quickly turning to snow. One to three inches of snow are expected to accumulate, varying throughout the region. The snow will mix in with rain and sleet and "spread over the region" Saturday morning. But the snow may not last on the ground for very long; the weather service is calling for rising temperatures by Sunday, which will turn snow into rain. The National Weather Service says a Winter weather advisory means travelers should …
