The Freehold Intermediate School donated a portion of proceeds from a recent fundraiser to the Belmar Elementary School.
The Freehold Intermediate School (FIS) has given a helping hand to a Monmouth County school greatly affected by Hurricane Sandy. Following the success of the annual Winter Festival, the FIS PTO decided to donate a little more than 10-percent of the proceeds from the fundraiser to the Belmar Elementary School. “A list of schools and their needs were posted on the NJSBA website,” said FIS PTO President Jill Schiff. “We agreed on Belmar as they will be using the money much like we would as a PTO.” According to Schiff, helping families devastated by the Hurricane Sandy exhausted the money from the Belmar Elementary School PTO. The $500 donated by FIS, will go towards an assembly and field trip for the children.

The deadline to register to sell your stuff at the event is April 25.
There is only 24 hours left to register to be a vender in the Park Avenue Elementary School Giant Yard Sale sponsored by the PTO. The deadline to register is April 25. Carolyn Patrick is a yard sale veteran, co-chairing the event for the 5th year in a row. She says the sale keeps both vendors and buyers coming back every year. “It really is a fun event and many people, both vendors and buyers, look forward to it,” she said. Patrick says they expect over 300 people to attend the sale on Saturday April 28 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 in the afternoon. If you are interested in selling at the event, she says it is best to sign-up soon. “Usually, we have over 40 vendors, of which a large majority buy more than one space, so our parking lot is pretty …

Although this winter has been unseasonably warm, the Freehold Borough Parent Teacher Organizations (PTO) kept it cool by hosting an Italian Ice fundraiser. On March 5, David Levine, the owner of Ralph’s Ices, opened up his heart and store to the PTO. For four hours, children and parents from the Freehold Intermediate School and Freehold Learning Center, along with teachers from Park Avenue School, scooped ice for their friends, family, coworkers, residents and those just passing by that stopped in to show their support. For each $5 donation, all were treated to their choice of pints and sundaes, with 100% of the proceeds going back to the schools. With Dave’s generosity, the PTOs walked away with $1,000. “We could not have asked for a …
