It looks like Freehold is taking another hit with the U.S. Postal Service. The U.S. Postal Service announced Wednesday morning that it will eliminate Saturday delivery of mail by Aug. 1. This news comes only a few weeks after the increase in stamp prices and over a year since the Freehold Borough Post Office closed, making Monmouth County the only New Jersey county to not have a post office in its county seat. According to the U.S. Postal Service, the six-days-per-week mail delivery business model “no longer sustainable”. The plan to change delivery from six days a week to five would only affect first-class mail.
